The Department of Geology and Geophysics of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) has started two- and three-dimensional (2D and 3D) exploration seismology on the contract are of the fiel of South-West Gobustan by request of the Gobustan Operating Company, Trend reports referring to SOCAR.

Three-dimensional exploration seismology works will be carried out on the area of 200 sq. meters of the fields of Dashgil, Duvanny, and Kanizadagh (which enters the field of South-West Gobustan), and two-dimensional exploration seismology works will be carried out on the area of 480 sq. meters of the Central and North block. These works are expected to be launched this month. At present the delivery of the necessary equipment is underway.
The development of the field of South-West on the principle of PSA being signed with SOCAR is implemented by the Gobustan Operating Company. 80 per cent of all the sharing belongs to Commonwealth Gobustan Limited, 20 per cent belongs to SOCAR. 37,17 per cent out of the share of Commonwealth Gobustan Limited belongs to Arawak Energy, 62,83 per cent the Grooup of Companies of the China National Petroleum Company.
