Construction of South Caucasus Pipeline Provided a Need to Renew Trans-Caspian Pipeline Project

Construction of the South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP) provided a need to renew the project of the Trans-Caspian Pipeline, the Executive Director of AZBTC CO, Ilham Nasirov, stated on 26 October at the conference Caspian oil, gas and fields - 2006 in Baku, Trend reports.

According to him, the SCP project is successfully ongoing. In the future, it is expected to extend the SCP, with a capacity of 16 bln cu.m of gas, which connects Turkey, Greece and Italy, he stated.

The volume of gas consumption within Europe will increase by 40% until 2020.

The gas that will be produced from the Azerbaijan field Shah Deniz from November will be transported through SCP.
