Azerbaijan, Baku/ Trend , corr. S. Aliyev/ Preparatory work for drilling the second appraisal well - INX-2 on the Azerbaijani offshore structure of Inam in Azerbaijan's Caspian sector is expected to be launched in September 2007. The drilling of the well is expected to be launched at the end of the year, a source in SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) stated.
Within the contract on the Inam field (shareholders are BP is 25%, SOCAR 50 % and Royal Dutch Shell 25 %), the semi-submersible Driling Rig will drill well INX-2. According to the SOCAR representative, the time of the direct launch of drilling work will depend upon the completiion term of the operation of the "Istiglal" Rig, which is linked with sidetracking work on appraisal well SDX-4 on the condensate deposit of Shah-Deniz, as well as analysis of the data to be received.
The "Istiglal" Rig is governed by the Azerbaijani-American Joint-Venture - Caspian Drilling Company (CDC). (SOCAR and Global Santa Fe are the parties involved in the Joint-Venture).
