Europe Believes in Possibility to Co-operate with   Azerbaijan: Minister

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend U.Ismaylova / The Energy Minister of Georgia, Nika Gilaury, said on 5 June at the opening of the 14th International "Caspian Oil Exhibition in Baku that Georgia and Azerbaijan had reached its own energy security. "We hope to obtain new energy security in the future," Gilaury said.

Azerbaijan's important energy projects, namely Baku-Supsa, Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and South Caucasus pipelines, pass through Georgia. According to him, not only Georgia, but also the whole of Europe believes in the possibility of co-operating with Azerbaijan. "The NABUCCO project will create additional opportunities to ensure the energy security of the countries," the Minister said.

The NABUCCO pipeline, 4,000 km in length, will ensure the delivery of the Middle Asian and Caspian gas to Europe via Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania and Austria. The pipeline is expected to be launched in 2011. The cost of the project is estimated at €5 bln.

NABUCCO is developed by Austrian OMV, Hungarian MOL, Turkish Botas, Bulgarian Bulgargaz and Romanian Transgaz.
