Azeri Drilling Company Sets up Drilling on Big Offshore Field

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend S.Aliyev / Azeri Drilling Company, a joint venture, has set up drilling from the shallow-water Guneshli field, developed independently by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR).

Drilling work is carried out on Guneshli 12 platform. The well with the depth of 2,800 meters will be allocated for gas production.

The company intends to launch drilling on Guneshli 11 field shortly. SOCAR is carrying out work over expanding platform Guneshli 11.

Azeri Drilling Company Ltd joint venture will drill on 12 new wells on Shallow-Water Guneshli field. Four wells will be drilled on Guneshli 11 platform and 8 on Guneshli 3 platform.

Gunashli 11 platform is expanded at the expense of an additional block which has been installed in the depth of 102 meters. The block has nine stems and weights 1060 tons. Its height is 113 meters. The SOCAR made amendments to the project which will provide an opportunity to drill eight gas wells with blocks, although earlier six wells had been intended to be drilled

According to geologists' estimations, upon the completion of drilling of all 8 wells daily debit from the additional bloc will comprise 1.5-2 mln cu m of gas a day.

Platform "Gunashli- 13" was put into operation three years ago. Over this time, the Platform has drilled three high daily production rate wells. The two wells have a daily production rate at 300 tons of oil.

The founders of "Azeri Drilling Company Ltd." JV are SOCAR (35 %), "Target Petroleum Azerbaijan Corporation", registered in Panama (35 %), and "First Drilling Limited" of Scotland (30%).

The Enterprise is engaged in drilling oil and gas wells, including horizontal and special drilling, cementing and fortifying wells, the development, overhaul and underground repair activities, geophysical research and perforation activities.
