Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) wants Iranian exporters of urea fertilizers to participate in state tenders in India, just like Indian exporters easily participate in Iran’s tenders, said Seyyed Mojtaba Mousavian, supervisor of Asia & Oceania Trade Office at TPO, Trend reports via Fars News Agency.

He was speaking at a conference held in the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture.

He said that one Iranian private bank will open its first branch in India, which will make it possible to increase the export of goods to India.

“Iran has very good banking relations with India,” he noted. “India continues these relations and through its efforts, it has been able to obtain permission from the US to purchase oil from Iran for 180 days. We believe that India has a program to continue buying oil from Iran with rupees.”

“India is one of the key economic partners of Iran and is the main Iranian oil buyer after China,” he added. “India is also one of the food suppliers for Iran. India is one of the five major markets importing Iran’s non-oil products. It is necessary to work for the development of cooperation between the two countries.”

“Most of the rice and tea that Iran needs is supplied through India,” he noted. “Sri Lanka is the second Iranian tea provider after India.”

He said that the TPO is establishing a program for the development of barter exchanges between Iran and India. With regard to this mechanism, the work with some countries is underway, he added.
