Azerbaijan’s Financial Market Supervisory Authority will assess the possibility of forming national rating agencies by the end of 2019, the authority representatives told Trend.
The Authority is currently conducting research in this direction and an evaluation work accounting for the research results will be carried out by the end of this year.
Such an assessment is based on the objectives reflected in the Strategic Roadmap for the development of financial services in Azerbaijan. Currently, due to the lack of national rating agencies, these services are provided only by international rating agencies, which is costly for local companies; as such, only a limited number of companies in Azerbaijan have access to this service.
