The US State Department published a report on financial assistance that was provided to different countries in the world to combat coronavirus, Trend reports citing the report.
According to the report, the US allocated $1.7 million to Georgia.
As reported, these funds will help to prepare laboratory systems, activate case-finding and event-based surveillance, support technical experts for response and preparedness, bolster risk communication in Georgia.
"The United States has provided more than $3.6 billion in total US assistance over the past 20 years to Georgia, including nearly $139 million in health care", said the report.
As of April 17, Georgia has confirmed a total of 370 cases of COVID-19 since February 28, including 77 recoveries and three deaths.
Georgian health officials again call on everyone to stay home and keep social distancing to avoid further spread of COVID-19, the report said.
On March 21, Georgia declared a state of emergency until May 10 to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
