Iran's Shahid Tondgooyan Petrochemical Company reveals saved funds

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 8

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

A minimum of 12.5 million euros has been saved with repairing of palladium catalysts in the second unit of Iran’s Shahid Tondgooyan Petrochemical Company's plant, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

According to the report, Japan's NECC Company, which operates with the license of BASF Company of the US, has refused to sell palladium catalysts to Iran's Shahid Tondgooyan Petrochemical Company as a result of US sanctions against Iran.

“This has resulted in the cessation of production of PTA (Purified Terephthalic Acid) and PET (polyethylene terephthalate) products at the Shahid Tondgooyan Petrochemical Company,” the report added.

According to the report, the 2nd unit of the plant requires 14 tons of palladium catalyst for the production, and after the production of 700,000 tons of product, the catalyst must be replaced.

In addition, more than 1.87 million tons of products were produced with this catalyst as a result of the company's specialist efforts, the report noted.
