A decrease in the number of cards in circulation was observed in 11 out of 32 banks registered in Uzbekistan, Trend reports with reference to the Central Bank of Uzbekistan (CBU).
According to the CBU, the number of bank cards in Uzbekistan in January 2021 decreased from 25.77 million to 24.83 million.
However, it is reported that not all Uzbek banks have reduced the number of plastic cards.
In particular, Asaka Bank lost 47.8 percent and now the bank has 1.01 million cards. At the same time, Khalk Bank (People’s Bank) now has 200,130 cards less, while Hamkorbank has 118,000 cards less.
As for other Uzbek banks, they increased the number of bank cards. Infinbank has increased the number of bank cards by 232,000, Ravnakbank - by 127,700, and Universalbank - by 48,780.
In addition, the total number of ATMs and information kiosks in Uzbekistan increased from 11,800 to 12,300 or by 4.3 percent.
Also, the total number of ATMs installed in the country has grown. The largest number of new ATMs in January 2021 was installed by Halkbank, amounting to 325 new ATMs.
Earlier it was reported that the total number of individuals using remote banking services amounts to 13.7 million, while the number of legal entities using remote banking services accounts for 822,000.
