Average monthly nominal earnings down in Georgia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 18

Average monthly nominal earnings in Georgia decreased by 5 lari ($1.51) in the fourth quarter of 2020 compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 1,314.7 lari ($396.58), Trend reports the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

The highest monthly earnings were observed in:

- Information and communication – 2,199.8 lari ($663.56);
- Construction – 2,061.8 lari ($621.94);
- Professional, scientific and technical activities – 2,020.9 lari ($609.60);
- Financial and insurance activities 2,017.2 lari ($608.48).

In 4Q2020 the average earnings for women reached 1,022.3 lari ($308.37), while men earned 1,581.5 lari ($477.06) per month.

The annual growth of earnings for women amounted to 3.8 lari ($1.15), while for men it decreased by 11.7 lari ($3.53).

"In the majority of sectors of the economy the average monthly earnings of men were higher compared to women", said Geostat.

The average monthly earnings of employees in the business sector increased by 12.2 lari ($3.68) and equaled to 1,417 lari ($1,417).

The highest monthly earnings were observed in:

- Professional, scientific and technical activities - 2,319.9 lari ($699.79);
- Information and communication activities - 2,257.2 lari ($680.88).

The average monthly earnings of employees in the non-business and financial sector decreased by 9.2 lari ($2.78) and amounted to 1,157.2 lari ($349.07). The highest monthly earnings were observed in the financial and insurance activities.
