Iran shares data on foreign investment in Fars Province

A total of $2.3 billion worth of foreign investment has been made in the Fars Province (southern Iran) during the current Iranian government (which has been in power since 2013), Managing Director of Foreign Investment Attraction Office of Fars Province, Haleh Fouladfar said, Trend reports citing Fars Province Governor Office’s website.

According to Fouladfar, as a result of this investment, it was decided to set up 54 enterprises in the Fars Province, and so far, 14 enterprises have been put into operation.

“About $923 million worth of foreign investment was made in the Fars province over the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021). While in the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 through March 19, 2020), $181 million worth of foreign investment was made in the province. This shows a fivefold increase in foreign investment, she added.

The director noted that 58 percent of the enterprises to be established with foreign investment are in the industry sector, 16 percent in the electricity and energy sector, 16 percent in the education sector, and 8 percent in the agriculture sector.

Fouladfar said that there is currently more than 60 percent physical progress in the construction of 7 of the enterprises under construction in the province. In total, $264 million worth of foreign investment has been made in these enterprises.

In addition, 11 solar panel stations with a generation capacity of 431 megawatt-hours of electricity are being installed in the Bavanat County and 7 solar panel stations with a generation capacity of 200 megawatt-hours of electricity – in Abadeh County. These stations are estimated to be launched within 3 years, the director stressed.
