Turkmenistan to apply Kazakhstan's experience in capital market infrastructure

Representatives of the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange shared with Turkmen colleagues their experience in building capital market infrastructure during an online seminar on the development of the capital market and stock exchange in Turkmenistan organized by the OSCE Center, Trend reports citing Turkmen State News Agency.

According to the information, the seminar was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, the Central Bank, the Academy of Civil Service under the President of Turkmenistan, the Ashgabat Stock Exchange, and other relevant state and non-governmental structures.

It is reported that representatives of the Stock Exchange of Kazakhstan shared with their Turkmen colleagues their best practices in managing the capital market and the Stock Exchange, the specifics of forming a diversified investment portfolio, and building the infrastructure of the capital market. The experts also presented the listing procedures and mechanisms for trading securities.

In turn, the Turkmen side gave an overview of the country's capital market and discussed possible steps to further develop its infrastructure.

“A well-developed domestic capital market allows governments and companies to access long-term local currency finance, increases investment for innovation, and fosters sustainable growth with high employment opportunities for the middle class,” the Head of the OSCE Center in Ashgabat John McGregor said recognizing the importance of creating a conducive business environment for countries seeking to attract investment and develop the private business sector.
