BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 29

By Nazrin Israfilova – Trend:

The Association of Wine Producers and Exporters of Azerbaijan plans to expand the geography of export of wine products, the chairman of the Association Elchin Madatov told Trend.

According to Madatov, Russia, Belarus and Ukraine are the traditional export markets for Azerbaijani wine products.

"This year, wine products were exported to Central Asian countries - to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. In addition, our wines were exported to Europe and Asian countries (China, Japan). Regarding the reduction of tariffs, we can say that at the moment we have a tendency towards the CIS countries (according to the ST-Free Trade system) and in Turkey. With regard to other countries (Europe, Asian countries), we still have the old rules, but we very much hope that as a result of intergovernmental agreements, we will receive additional preferences for the export of wines. Both the manufacturers themselves, individually, and our Association are trying to expand the export of production in 2022. Thanks to this, our wine, in addition to traditional markets, is exported to European countries, China, Japan, Israel, Korea, the US and other countries," Madatov said.

He also said that as the borders open and COVID-19 quarantine measures ease, business trips will resume.

"This year, the Association of Wine Producers and Exporters of Azerbaijan has already acted as a common national stand at several exhibitions. Next year, it is planned to participate in the exhibitions Prodekspo Moscow-2022, WorldFood Moscow 2022, China International Import Expo 2022. Participation of various companies in exhibitions in Bulgaria, Germany, Italy is also planned. Of course, if a pandemic does not interfere," Madatov added.
