BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 11. The atmosphere at COP29 is lively, the environmental rights advocate and co-founder at Breathe in Mongolia Enkhuun Byambadorj told Trend on the sidelines of COP29.

“Today is the first day of COP29. I have high expectations for COP29. Everyone is trying to orient themselves today to make sure that the next two weeks will be at a good pace,” she said.

Byambadorj noted that during the first day of the event, the parties are trying to approve the agenda. And this agenda approval is very important because it prioritizes the next two weeks.

“As everybody knows, we are discussing a new collective target, which is basically the amount of climate finance that will go to developing countries so that they can cope with the effects of climate change and also mitigate the effects of climate change,” she emphasized.

To note, the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) kicked off today in Baku.

The official opening ceremony is taking place at the Baku Olympic Stadium.

The Summit of World Leaders on Climate Action will be held from November 12 to 13, and this significant event will be held until November 22.

To note, the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change was signed in June 1992 at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro to prevent dangerous anthropogenic impacts on the climate system. The first session was held in March 1995 in Berlin and the conference secretariat is located in Bonn.
