Azerbaijan, Baku, 25 February / Trend / Iltimas Mammadov, the deputy Communication and IT Minister of Azerbaijan, is on the visit to Japan.
The aim of the visit is to participate in the joint meeting of the State Commission on Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Japan and Committee on Economic Cooperation Azerbaijan-Japan on 25 and 26 February.
Abid Sharifov, the Vice Premier will head the delegation from Azerbaijan.
Yokota Akira, Vise President of the Japanese corporation Itochu, will head the delegation from Japan.
A previous meeting was held in Baku in November 2006. During the meeting the parties agreed on expansion and strengthening of economic relations.
Azerbaijan proposed to Japan to participate in the financing of the railroad and railway construction, improvement of water and sewage systems, agriculture, processing of solid waste and others. Japan is to continue supporting the energy sector.
In 2007, Japan invested $400mln in Azerbaijan.
