By Huseyn Valiyev – Trend:

Azerbaijani mobile operator Azercell Telecom LLC is testing a new service called the virtual number, a source in the country’s telecommunications market told Trend.

According to the source, the service will be available to the Azercell customers once it is approved by Azerbaijan’s relevant authorities.

Activating the virtual number in addition to the main SIM card will be possible through SMS and USSD. The virtual number will be bound to the main number and it can be used temporarily or disabled.

The virtual number guarantees confidentiality when it becomes necessary to leave a phone number to strangers, in an ad or in a questionnaire, when ordering a delivery and others.

The use of an additional number will not entail additional costs for mobile communications, except for a monthly subscription fee of two Azerbaijani manats.

The virtual number tariffs on calls and messages will be based on the customer’s existing tariff plan.

(1.7012 manats = $1 on July 22)
