Uzbekistan will introduce an automated system of accounting and payment for travel (ASOP) in urban passenger transport, the draft decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan “On the introduction of an automated system of accounting and payment for travel in urban passenger transport” said.
According to the document, the ASOP will be introduced in all types of public passenger transport (except for taxis), including the subway.
The head of Uzbekistan created an interdepartmental working group to implement the ASOP project.
The group will study international experience in this sphere and will develop a technical assignment, following the results of the study.
The group will also create an appropriate information technology infrastructure and introduce new ways of paying for travel.
The president instructed the Association of Banks together with the United Republican Processing Center (URPC) to ensure integration of the ASOP with the URPC and the Uzcard payment system for offline and online (including ePOS) payments. The commission rate for processing will be no more than 0.1 percent of the transfer amount.
The Tashkent subway turnstiles will also be renewed using funds of the state budget.
According to the draft decree, personalized ID Cards will be used to determine categories of citizens with their subsequent use as a preferential transportation payment card.
The president instructed to develop within three months a provision for payment for travel on passenger transport by the ASOP transport cards.
