The number of e-health cards issued to parents of newborns increased by 8 percent in Azerbaijan in 2018 compared to the figure in 2017, the Health Informatization Center of the Azerbaijani Health Ministry told Trend on Jan. 8.
According to the Health Informatization Center, the number of e-health cards issued in 2018 increased by 97,845 and reached 1,332,310.
Moreover, in 2018, the Center issued 7,528 e-health cards to the patients with diabetes mellitus who receive free medicines. In total, 107,505 e-health cards were issued to the patients with diabetes mellitus in 2018, which is by 7.5 percent more than in 2017.
In 2018, 30,133 cards were issued to patients undergoing medical examination. In total, 321,745 e-health cards were issued to such patients, which is 9.3 percent more than in 2017.
E-health cards contain information about the identity of the card holder, medical and social insurance and other data. Information is included in a single database of medical institutions through a local network.
