GNERC reveals number of mobile subscribers in Georgia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 4

By Tamilla Mammadova - Trend:

The number of mobile subscribers at the end of 2019 amounted to 5.38 million in Georgia, Trend reports referring to Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC) report.

In the last quarter of 2019, legal entities accounted for 25 percent of the total number of subscribers. Private individuals make up 75 percent of subscribers.

According to the commission, in 2019, 74 percent of mobile income was received by individuals, and 26 percent - by legal entities.

In 2019, the growth rate of mobile incomes in Georgia decreased compared to the GDP growth rate. These data have changed compared to previous years when mobile income growth rates exceeded GDP growth.

The decrease in mobile income growth in Georgia is associated with market saturation and increased competition.

As reported, the average income received from one subscriber per month (excluding VAT) amounted to 8.6 lari ($2.84). This indicator was 7.1 lari ($2.34) in 2016, 7.5 lari ($2.47) in 2017 and 8.3 lari ($2.74) in 2018.
