Iran to launch its first ICT free zone

Iran is expected to launch its own NTP (Network Time Protocol) alongside its first ICT free zone, Vice Chairman of the Board of Telecommunications Infrastructure Company Sajad Bonabi told Trend.

"The first ICT free zone will operate in November that would be located in Payam Special Economic Zone in Alborz Province," he said.

"The launch of ICT free zone is one of the projects in the national information network that aims to facilitate quality and access to domestic internet for foreigners," he added.

"The first phase of development of four million VDSL broadband connections and one million FTTH ports would be operating by July 22," he said.

"Iran currently receives its Network Time Protocol from foreign servers, it is expected to unveil its own NTP in national information network on August 22," he added.

"The development of second phase of FTTH, VDSL and DNS project in national information network will be inaugurated in October while the country's schools would fully connect to the national information network," he said.

"More than 1,000 villages have already been connected to the national information network and a data center by Iranian Irancell in late May," he said.

"The third phase of FTTH , VDSL development and complete access of all villages to the national information network would be unveil in January," he said.

"Iranian GitHub service account is expected to operate soon to aid the domestic programmers," he said.
