Uzbekistan and Russia approved the text of an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes, Russian Ambassador to the Uzbekistan Vladimir Tyurdenev said on Monday at a press conference following the results of 2020, Trend reports.
According to the ambassador the document can be signed during the next bilateral summit meeting.
According to the Roscosmos state corporation, the Uzbek side can participate in monitoring systems for space debris at the Maidanak observatory and remote sensing of the earth, joint projects in the development of satellites, as well as the completion of the construction of a radio astronomy observatory on the Suffa plateau in the Jizzakh region of Uzbekistan.
Earlier Roscosmos State Corporation for Space Activities proposed Uzbekistan to finance the creation of the first Uzbek satellites and partially localize their assembly, as well as to develop a partnership in the field of monitoring space debris and remote sensing of the earth.
At the end of August last year, the president of Uzbekistan signed a decree on the establishment of the Uzbekcosmos Space Research and Technology Agency.
