Iran eyes developing national space industry

TEHRAN, Iran, Nov. 27

Iranian government eyes to develop the national space industry, said Iranian Minister of Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Trend reports citing IRNA.

Issa Zarepour made the remarks on the sideline of the first meeting of the Supreme Council of Space.

Iranian president Ebrahim Raisi president visited the latest achievements of the country's space industry, before the meeting of the Supreme Council of Space.

In the meeting, the president stressed the need to achieve the technology of reaching the Low Earth Orbit (LEO), the ICT minister said.

Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) is an orbit with an altitude ranging from 200 km to 2000 km, he said, promising news about national space industry in the near future.

Iran is planning to put satellites into an orbit of 36,000 kilometers which is also known as geostationary orbit, within next 10 years, he said.

The Minister of ICT emphasized the need to use the capacity of the private sector in the space industry.
