Number of blocked malware attempts in Azerbaijan's AzStateNet network surges in 2021

The number of blocked "intruders" in the Azerbaijan State Network (AzStateNet) in 2021 rose, Trend reports citing a report of the Computer Incident Response Team (CERT) under the State Agency for Special Communications and Information Security of the Special State Security Service of Azerbaijan.

According to the report, this figure amounted to 105,845, up by 34.1 percent on annual basis.

“The number of "intruders" blocked (based on URLs) settled at 38,636 (growth of 38.7 percent), the centralized anti-virus system (CAS) – 31,421 (rise of 1.8 percent), and the so-called sandbox (a specially isolated environment for the safe execution of computer programs) – 35,788 (up by 77.15 percent),” the report said.

Based on the information security audit carried out by the computer incident response team, during the reporting year, 205 reports were prepared and sent to the relevant structures against 244 in 2020.

In 2020, the number of blocked “intruders’ based on URL addresses in the Azerbaijani AzStateNet network amounted to more than 27,850, the CAS - 30,860, and by sandbox - 20,202.
