Occupancy rate of hotels in Azerbaijan increased by 11.4 percent in 2019 and amounted to 3.3 million nights compared to 2018, Trend reports referring to the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan.
Daily average of guests staying in Azerbaijani hotels exceeded 9,460 people.
About 57.7 percent of stays fell on Baku, 9 percent - Gabala, 7.9 percent - Guba, 4.4 percent in Khachmaz, 3.7 percent in Naftalan, 2.8 percent – Gusar, 2.7 percent – Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, 1.2 percent – Lankaran, and 1 percent accounted for Mingachevir and Gakh each.
The remaining 8.6 percent accounted for other districts and cities.
In 2019, the number of nights spent by Azerbaijani citizens increased by 15.9 percent compared to 2018 and reached 1.1 million.
Among foreign tourists, the absolute majority of people (77.6 percent) resided in Baku, 9.1 percent in Gabala, 3.4 percent in Guba, 3 percent in Naftalan, 2.9 percent in Nakhchivan. Other areas accounted for 4.6 percent.
In general, the number of nights spent by foreigners and stateless persons increased by 9.3 percent in 2019 amounted to 2.24 million, or 67 percent of the total compared to 2018.
Most of all (13.8 percent), citizens of Saudi Arabia resided in Azerbaijani hotels, citizens of the UAE - 11.7 percent, Russia - 10.9 percent and Israel - 6 percent. Among citizens of other countries, guests from India (5.9 percent), Iran (5.2 percent) and Turkey (5 percent) were marked.
In 2019, revenues of Azerbaijan’s hotels increased by 25.2 percent or 450.2 million manat ($264.8 million) compared to 2018.
