Uzbekistan, Ireland consider establishing co-op in tourism sector

Uzbekistan and Ireland considered proposals for establishing interaction in the field of education and tourism, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Affairs of Uzbekistan.

On May 6, 2021, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Gairat Fazilov held talks with the Minister of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ireland Thomas Byrne in the format of videoconference.

During the conversation, the parties discussed the current state and priority areas for the further development of Uzbek-Irish relations, confirmed their mutual interest in strengthening political dialogue and enhancing inter-parliamentary ties.

It is reported that particular attention was paid to the intensification of trade, economic and investment cooperation through the establishment of direct partnerships between business circles, the creation of the Uzbek-Irish Business Council, the implementation of joint investment projects involving Irish investments and technologies in Uzbekistan.

In addition, the parties considered proposals for establishing interaction in the field of education and tourism.

According to the information, in July 2012 the governments of Uzbekistan and Ireland have signed a convention for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of tax evasion on income and property.

It was noted then that Uzbekistan was the first country in the Central Asian region with which Ireland signed a similar document.
