BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 20. As many as 119,100 foreigners and stateless persons from 131 countries visited Azerbaijan in January 2023, increasing 1.6 times year over year, Trend reports referring to the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan.

Out of the overall number of foreign visitors, 33.8 percent came from Russia, 21.1 percent – from Türkiye, 9.3 percent – from Iran, 5.6 percent – from Georgia, 2.7 percent – from Pakistan, 3.4 percent – from India, 3.2 percent – from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and 1.8 percent – from Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia each.

Ukraine comprised 1.5 percent of foreigners and stateless persons, Kuwait – 2.1 percent, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Belarus – 1.2 percent, while other countries accounted for 10.1 percent.

In the reporting period, compared to January 2022, the number of guests from Pakistan increased 9.9 times, India – 8.6 times, Turkmenistan – five times, Uzbekistan – five times, Belarus – 3.6 times, China – 3.1 times, Kazakhstan – three times, Kuwait – 2.9 times, Oman – 2.2 times, Israel – 2.1 times, the UAE – 1.9 times, Georgia – 1.6 times, the US – 1.6 times, Russia – 1.5 times, the UK – by 47.6 percent, Türkiye – by 40.7 percent, Ukraine – by 19.8 percent, and from Iran – by 15.6 percent.

In 2022, 1.602 million foreigners and stateless persons from 178 countries visited Azerbaijan, which was twice the figure for 2021.
