Iran intends to create transit route for delivery of goods to Uzbekistan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 12

Iran is ready to create a transit route for delivering goods from the Persian Gulf and North Africa to Uzbekistan without restrictions, said Iranian Minister of Industry, Mines and Business, Reza Rahmani, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.

Rahmani held a meeting with the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov. It was also attended by Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade and Head of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPO) Hamid Zadboum and Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Iran Bakhodir Abdullayev.

According to Rahmani, the North-South transport corridor will play a huge role in the development of trade relations by connecting countries located north of Iran with countries located in the south of the Persian Gulf and North Africa.

“Iran is ready to create a transit route for transporting goods from these countries to Uzbekistan without any restrictions,” the minister said.

“We plan to establish a direct line between Iran and Uzbekistan on an ongoing basis and use national currencies in financial transactions,” Rahmani said.

During the meeting increase of the export of fruits and vegetables to Iran and the ways of interaction between the foreign trade departments of the two countries were separately discussed.

In particular, specific proposals were voiced to facilitate the conditions of mutual trade by ensuring mutual recognition of phytosanitary control requirements.
