Uzbekistan introduces amendments to some import procedures

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan. 4

By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend:

Uzbekistan has approved the decree ‘On improving customs procedures when processing goods and vehicles imported into the customs territory of Uzbekistan’, Trend reports with reference to Uzbek media.

The decree, which was approved on Dec. 31, 2019, will enter into force on April 3, 2020. It introduces amendments to the order of import, as well as the release into circulation of certain goods.

Thus, import of goods for which a certificate of conformity, a sanitary-epidemiological certificate, and an environmental certificate issued by the competent authorities in the prescribed manner is required, is allowed only if the documents’ issuance is approved in the Single Window customs information system.

In turn, issue of goods for free circulation for which the initial customs declaration was previously filed is carried out within three hours from the date of registration of the cargo customs declaration, with the exception when the automated risk management system detects risks.

On April 10, 2019, over 2,000 types of goods were exempted from customs payments in Uzbekistan under the privilege stipulated by the decree of Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev “On further measures to accelerate the development of the pharmaceutical industry of Uzbekistan in 2019-2021”
