BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jun. 30

By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend:

‘Container hub’ is to be established in Kazakhstan’s Aktau seaport, Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development told Trend.

With this in mind, modernization of port infrastructure and acquisition of additional transshipment equipment is to be carried out in the nearest future, said the official.

“Implementation of these measures is to contribute to the increase in container traffic on the Aktau-Baku (Azerbaijan) feeder line as part of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, as well as on feeder lines with Iranian ports,” the ministry said.

The official also noted that in order to simplify transportation logistics and to minimize costs, the containers' handling via Kazakhstan’s territory will take twice as long.

“This will also create favorable conditions for attracting world container operators to Kazakhstan’s market,” the ministry official said.

Currently, there are three operating seaports in Kazakhstan: Aktau, Bautino and Kuryk.

Nowadays, Aktau International Commercial Sea Port is a modern multi-purpose terminal that allows the transportation of goods from East to West, from North to South and back 12 months a year and 24 hours a day.

Bautino сargo port is a division of Aktau International Commercial Sea Port, and is located in the village of Bautino (150 km from the city of Aktau), in the waters of the Bautino Bay of Tyubkaragansky Gulf.
