Azerbaijan carried out cargo transportation by rail worth $1.2 billion from January through June 2020, which is 24.2 percent less compared to 2019, Trend reports citing a report of the State Customs Committee (SCC).
In the first half of this year, the volume of cargo transportation by rail amounted to 3.2 million tons, which is 0.6 percent less compared to the first half of 2019.
The volume of export of goods by rail fell by 0.8 percent and amounted to 1 million tons. In monetary terms, the railway export operations made up $232.9 million, which is a decrease of 61.7 percent.
Imports by rail for the reporting period amounted to 2.1 million tons worth $974.7 million, having shown a decrease of 15.2 percent.
In 1H2020, Azerbaijan's trade turnover with five main trading partners amounted to $6.6 billion, or 59.5 percent of the country's total trade turnover.
Azerbaijan's total foreign trade turnover during the reporting period amounted to $12.6 billion, showing a 34.1 percent drop compared to 1H2019.
