Uzbekistan increases electric cars import

Imports of electric vehicles in Uzbekistan have grown sharply, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee.

From January to September, 73 electric vehicles were imported to Uzbekistan, which is 53 more than in the same period of 2019.

According to statistics, 50 electric vehicles were imported from China, 12 from Korea. The remaining 11 came from Germany, UAE, Russia, and Georgia.

Since the beginning of the year, $1.7 million have been spent on the import of electric vehicles.

According to the Presidential Decree of December 9, 2019, the import of electric vehicles in Uzbekistan is not subject to customs tax. It is enough to pay the fee and VAT.

Earlier it was reported that a new automobile plant will be completed next year for the production of a new electric car. The plant will be located in the Kokand region of Uzbekistan.

The volume of investments in the project will amount to $30 million, of which $24 million will be allocated by the Chinese company Silk Road Company.

The new enterprise will be located in an area of ​​30,000 square meters. The assembly of electric cars will be carried out from Chinese components. Car sales are planned not only in Uzbekistan but also abroad.

It is known that the electric car will receive a design in the style of Mercedes-Benz and the cost of 3,000 dollars. Its power plant will receive 100 hp, and the range will be 150 km, while the top speed will be electronically limited to 80 km/h.
