Iran seeks to cooperate in auto sector with foreign countries

TEHRAN, Iran, Nov.27

Iran is negotiating for cooperation with foreign countries in the auto sector, said a member of the Board of Directors of Iranian Automotive Parts Manufacturers Association

"Iran has held negotiations with Belarus and Venezuela to launch auto montage line and already installed units in these countries but so far it has not reached a good result," Mohammad Reza Najafi Manesh told Trend in an interview.

"Iranian auto montage outside the country has been halted in all countries due to the current issue of money transfer," he added

Manesh went on to say that statistics from customs indicate that Iran's auto export during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (started March 20, 2020) was $6 million.

According to him, there are some companies that export auto parts to neighboring countries, for example, Iraq and Syria import auto parts and other accessories manufactured by SAIPA but the figure is insignificant.

"The problem in auto and auto part export is transferring money since it's difficult to return export's foreign currency revenue," he noted.

Manesh pointed out that the recent changes in Iran's domestic auto production aim. Auto manufacturers should increase production by aid of auto part makers, the Ministry of Industries Mine and Trade imported 158 auto parts valued at $300 million in the first nine months of the current Iranian year and 500,000 vehicles were produced.
