Volume of cargo loaded, unloaded in Iran’s Khorramshahr port revealed

A total of 2.59 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the Khorramshahr port in the Khuzestan Province (southwestern Iran) during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020 - January 20, 2021), Head of Khorramshahr Ports and Maritime Department, Nourollah Asadi said, Trend reports referring to the department’s portal.

According to him, there was a 15-percent increase in loading and unloading of cargo.

Asadi added that 16,200 units of TEU containers were loaded and unloaded in the Khorramshahr port over the 10 months. This is an increase of 16 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

The director-general noted that more than $493 million worth of goods were exported to the countries around the Persian Gulf through this port within the reporting period. The exported goods were mainly metals, construction and mining materials.

As reported, the Khorramshahr port covers an area of 230 hectares of land. The port's 18 platforms are operating and the activities of one platform is being restored. The port can receive 3.5 million tons of products a year.
