TRACECA eyes implementing pilot project for cargo shipments between four countries

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb.11

By Sadraddin Aghjayev – Trend:

Azerbaijan has bilaterally implemented several projects within the ‘International Road Transportation’ electronic system (e-TIR), Rufat Bayramov, Permanent Representative of the Permanent Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Commission TRACECA, told Trend.

According to Bayramov, the last implemented project of Azerbaijan within the e-TIR system was achieved with Iran.

"Now on the agenda there is the issue of pilot shipment between the four TRACECA countries (Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan). Uzbekistan is already implementing these projects with Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan is also implementing it on bilateral basis," he said.

Besides, Bayramov noted that up until now there weren’t registered cases of a shipment between four countries.

"Azerbaijan, for its part, agreed to the implementation of this project, and we expect the consent of other participants in this project. We plan to launch this pilot project within the framework of e-TIR already this year," added the representative.

Speaking about the e-CMR (electronic consignment note) project, he pointed out that the agreement on this project, that is, the issue of Azerbaijan's joining this project is under consideration.

"The procedure of coordination between state bodies is underway, the results of which in the near future will allow us to draw appropriate conclusions within the framework of this project," stressed Bayramov.
