About 70 routes on the TRACECA route map were initially adopted several years ago, Rufat Bayramov, Permanent Representative (National Secretary) of the PS IGC TRACECA in Azerbaijan, told Trend.
According to Bayramov, most of these routes did not work or were part of the route of one or two countries.
As part of TRACECA, last year we adopted special criteria to identify these routes in order to optimize them, he added.
The TRACECA route is the route that crosses two countries and one sea shoulder (the countries of the Caucasus and Europe).
“For the certification, we removed the routes that were unnecessary and concentrated on the main routes. We are currently working on developing a new map. In the near future, we will already have a map of the new TRACECA route,” Bayramov said.
TRACECA is a system of international road transport of goods, operating on the basis of the Customs Convention on the International Carriage of Goods with the Use of ‘TIR’ (International Road Transport).
The IGC TRACECA is open to all initiatives contributing to the strengthening of regional transport dialogue and ensuring effective and reliable international Eurasian transport links, contributing to the active development of the economy.
The TRACECA corridor is involved in gradually developing trends in trade and economic relations. The main traffic flows that pass through the corridor are formed on the one hand in Western and Central Europe, and on the other - in Central and Southeast Asia.
