BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 11. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at the ports of the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) increased by 16.7 percent, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), Director General of Ports and Maritime Department in Hormozgan Province, Alireza Mohammadi said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).
Mohammadi said that more than 95 million tons of goods were loaded and unloaded in the ports of the province last year.
The director general added that about 56 million tons of loaded and unloaded cargo were non-oil products, which is an increase of 2.3 percent, compared to the preceding Iranian year.
“In addition, about 49 million tons of cargo loaded and unloaded in the ports of the Hormozgan Province were crude oil and related products, which is an increase of 18.7 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year,” he said.
According to Mohammadi, a total of 58,992 ships docked at the ports of the province over last Iranian year. In general, 1,839,000 TEU containers were loaded and unloaded in the province’s ports for the reporting period. Its 1,708,000 units were loaded and unloaded at Shahid Rajaee port.
