BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 23. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at Iran’s Imam Khomeini port in Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran) decreased by 2.6 percent in the 5th month of the current Iranian year (July 23 through August 22, 2023), compared with the same time last year, Trend reports.
According to the data of the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO), around 3.88 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at the Imam Khomeini port in the fifth month. Of that, over 2.31 million tons were loaded and 1.56 million tons were unloaded.
Also, 1.96 million tons of cargo were exported and about 1.36 million tons were imported through the Imam Khomeini port over the reporting month.
In particular, 295,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 38,000 tons were unloaded at the port for transit.
Within the fifth month, 33,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 166,000 tons were unloaded at the port for cabotage.
At the same time, 369 tons of cargo were loaded and 2,860 tons were unloaded for other purposes.
As many as 1 million tons of essential products, 124,000 tons of metal products, 394,000 tons of construction and mining materials, and 376, 000 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded at the Imam Khomeini port during the 5th month of the current Iranian year.
Moreover, 80,800 tons of leather, clothing, fibers, paper, and wood materials, 62,900 tons of container products, and 1.83 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in this port within the mentioned month.
Overall, around 12.7 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 5th month of the current Iranian year. Of that, 7 million tons were loaded and 5.68 million tons were unloaded. This is a decrease of 1.5 percent compared to the same month last year.
