ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, July 5. Turkmenistan sees prospects in building sustainable trunk transport routes within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Trend reports.
This was stated by Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, at the meeting of heads of delegations in the SCO+ format in Astana.
"I am convinced that we have all the prerequisites to build sustainable, main partnership routes along the East - West and North - South lines," he said.
Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan is ready to work in the field of transport with the SCO states in various formats and configurations.
"If we talk about the transport and transit segment, then we highlight the route through Central Asia from China to Europe and the Middle East. In our opinion, it should be about creating a regime of the most favored transport links, providing tariffs, customs, and other preferences at border crossings. We are ready to discuss this issue with interested partners in detail," he said.
To note, a meeting of the SCO Council was held on July 4, at which the leaders of the member states discussed important issues of multilateral and multi-vector cooperation in the organization's format, as well as issues of regional and international policy.
