Astana, Kazakhstan, Dec. 3

By Daniar Mukhtarov - Trend:

Over the first nine months of 2013 Kazakhstan suspended operation of some 72 railway cars in line with the results of an audit conducted by the Transport Control Committee of Kazakh Ministry of Transport and Communications, according to the ministry.

The operation of these passenger cars was suspended because of their non-compliance with railway transport operation rules and technical regulations on passenger transportation safety, the ministry said.

The operation of these cars will remain suspended till violations are addressed.

The Transport Control Committee's Chairman Asset Asavbaev said that the audit showed that there are problems in technical maintenance of passenger cars.

Moreover, the water supply devices are not working properly in some cars and the water tanks and electric heaters are broken, according to Asavbaev.

"We withdrew cars from service because of these violations, as the main task is to provide safe comfortable conditions for passengers, especially now, on the eve of the cold winter season," the message quoted the Transport Control Committee's chairman Asset Asavbaev as saying.
