Chairman of the Kazakh Senate (upper house of the parliament) Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with chairman of the House of Councillors of Morocco's parliament Mohammed Cheikh Biadillah, who paid an official visit to Kazakhstan, the Kazakh Senate reported on April 22.
"A fruitful conversation on a wide range of issues concerning Kazakh-Moroccan relations and relevant international issues was held among speakers in the Senate," according to a statement.
Tokayev expressed confidence that the visit of the distinguished guest will give a new impetus to mutually beneficial cooperation, in which the inter-parliamentary relations play an important role. In this regard, the parties agreed to fully promote the work of the MPs' groups on cooperation in the two countries' parliaments.
Kazakh Senate Speaker spoke about the beginning of implementing Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev's strategy "Kazakhstan-2050". The country's joining 30 most developed world countries is its aim. He invited Morocco to take part in the Expo-2017 international exhibition in Astana.
Tokayev informed Biadillah about the preparation for the fifth congress, scheduled for 2015, and discussed the opportunity of Morocco's participation at the highest political level.
The speaker of the upper chamber of the Moroccan parliament spoke in detail about the development of modern Morocco, the situation in the Arab world and the African continent.
Biadillah stressed Kazakhstan's significant contribution to establishing cooperation between Asia and Europe, and expressed appreciation for the stability and development in Kazakhstan.
"President Nazarbayev and Morocco's King Muhammad VI attach great importance to internal and regional stability," he said. "Moreover, the two leaders foster a dialogue among civilizations and religions. Such a dialogue greatly contributes to safety."
In general, Kazakhstan and Morocco have many common interests and opportunities for further development of cooperation, including alternative energy and agriculture, he added.
