New sub-zones are planned to be constructed on ‘Seaport Aktau’ SEZ (special economic zone) in Kazakhstan, the Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan Beibut Atamkulov said at a government meeting, Trend reports citing Kazinform.
According to Atamkulov, in connection with the occupancy of the sub-zones provided with infrastructure, the construction of sub-zones No. 2 and No. 4 was proposed.
Currently, ‘Seaport Aktau’ SEZ consists of nine separately located sub-zones, of which five sub-zones are provided with infrastructure (sub-zones No. 1, 3, 7, 8, 9).
It is reported that these sub-zones will be mastered at the expense of the projects of the participants of the SEZ with a total investment of 327 billion tenge ($769 million) and the creation of 1,200 jobs.
Thus, to date it is planned to attract 13.1 tenge ($0.031) of private investment for one tenge ($0.0024) of budget investments.
"The implementation of projects will have a multiplier effect by diversifying the region's economy, creating additional jobs, increasing budget revenues," Atamkulov added.
