Trend:

Vice Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Kazanbayev held meeting with representatives of AliExpress Russia company on issues of cooperation between the countries, Trend reports.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the issue of free import of goods to the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Council (EEU).

Sergey Lebedev, Vice President for Relations with State Authorities at AliExpress Russia, presented a proposal on protection of the right to free import to the Kazakh Trade Ministry.

The parties also discussed the issue of the development of Khorgos International Center for Border Cooperation [located near border with China].

"As goods from China are delivered to Central Asia through Eastern Europe, delivery takes about 60 days. It becomes unattractive for the consumers, after which they cease to buy goods. When the delivery deadlines are reduced to 30 days, growth in the purchase becomes notable again," Dmitry Andryukhin, the head of the CIS directorate at AliExpress Russia, said.

In connection with this, the representatives of the company proposed to set up a permanent route for the delivery of goods in Kazakhstan and use the Khorgos base for the Central Asian regions.

At the end of the meeting, Kazanbayev noted that the country is open for negotiations and interested in maintaining the cooperation.

In the first half of 2021, residents of Kazakhstan placed more than 3.7 million purchase orders on the AliExpress Russia platform, and by the end of the year more than 10 million parcels are forecasted to be delivered to Kazakhstan.

According to the statistics, the current volumes gradually recover in Kazakhstan up to the 2019 level, while by the end of 2020, turnover significantly declined - by 15 percent in monetary terms, and by nearly 20 percent in the number of orders.
