BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 9. The task of attracting investors to Kazakhstan is to show the country has the best conditions compared to other countries, the Governor of the Astana International Financial Center (AIFC) Kairat Kelimbetov said on the New Time program of the Jibek Joly TV channel, Trend reports.
“The main task, as the president [Kassym-Jomart Tokayev] said in his address, is to attract foreign direct investment and create jobs. One of the features of our investment climate is the presence of the Astana International Financial Center. These are the principles of English Common law,” Kelimbetov noted.
“We have the AIFC Court, the Arbitration Center, and the legislation which is understandable and familiar to investors, allowing us to attract about $6-7 billion of investments. Even more, investments are expected, given the difficult geo-economic situation,” he also noted.
Kazakhstan has chosen the right path of neutral jurisdiction, the center’s chief pointed out.
“There is a lot of interest from East and West, so the AIFC is the most recognizable platform for all investors. In June, the Management Council, chaired by the president, held a special meeting, at which we summed up the results of 2021,” Kelimbetov further said.
“About 1,500 companies are registered in the AIFC, and big investments have been attracted. The AIFC Court has handled about 40 cases. This year the number will increase. Our strategy has ambitious goals until 2025,” he added.
