BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 1. The US and Kazakhstan are going to meet for discussions within the Enhanced Strategic Partnership Dialogue (ESPD) this December, the US State Department spokesperson told Trend.

Kazakhstan is a strong economic partner, and the US Department of State engages with the country on several issues via the ESPD, the spokesperson said.

According to the source, these include promoting respect for human rights and democratic governance, expanding bilateral trade and economic diversification, supporting the government’s stated reform agenda, and broadening people-to-people ties.

Furthermore, the US eyes to continue to work with Kazakhstan through the C5+1 diplomatic format.

“Addressing common objectives and challenges together creates opportunities to make the C5+1 countries and populations more prosperous and secure. As we recognize the 7th anniversary (November 2015) of the C5+1 diplomatic format, we are increasing collaboration in support of enhancing economic connectivity, mitigating and adapting to climate change and environmental challenges, and jointly addressing security concerns,” the US State Department representative noted.

Meanwhile, the C5+1 is a format of diplomatic cooperation between the US and the five countries of the Central Asia. The C5+1, since its launch in 2015, enhances coordination to advance shared goal: an independent, prosperous, and secure Central Asia that addresses common concerns in partnership with the US.
