BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 26. Around 37,940 gold bars with a total weight of 1.1 were sold in Kazakhstan by banks and separate non-bank exchange offices, Trend reports, citing the press service of the National Bank of Kazakhstan (NBK).

The gold bars are offered in five different weight categories - 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 grams.

The most popular weight choice among the Kazakh population was 5 grams, amounting to roughly 30.5 percent of sales or 11,558 units. The second most popular weight category was 20 grams, with around 8,605 units sold, an equivalent of 23 percent.

Some 8,548 units (22.5 percent) of 10-gram gold were sold during the same period

Bars weighing 100 and 50 grams were the least popular choices, with a share of sales of 6,462 units (17 percent) and 2,767 units (7 percent) respectively.

The program for the sale and repurchase of measured refined gold bars for the population was launched by the National Bank in 2017. In total 112,845 gold bars with a total weight of 3.8 tons were sold in the framework of the program.
