BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 30. The funds for the Kambarata hydroelectric power plant-1 (HPP) project construction will be allocated by Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan on an equal basis, Trend reports, citing Kazakh media.

The project, which will be implemented in Kyrgyzstan, is aimed at improving the energy security of the three Central Asian states, in addition to contributing to the protection of the environment.

Additionally, there is a possibility of the participation of foreign investors in the project.

The overall cost of the project and the technical details remain undisclosed for the time being.

Currently, the sides are discussing the possibility of signing an intergovernmental agreement on the implementation of the project.

Earlier, energy ministers of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan signed a roadmap for the construction of a Kambarata HPP-1. The document signed between the ministers on 6 January outlines the key conditions for the joint implementation of the project, as well as the next steps to be taken to ensure the commissioning of the plant.
