BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 2. Kazakhstan will commission 14 major chemical enterprises in 2023, Trend reports, citing the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development of Kazakhstan.
The overall cost of the projects is estimated to be around 58.1 billion Kazakh tenge ($127.55 million).
According to the ministry, this will create around 1,040 new jobs. Around 17.6 percent of the new employment opportunities will be located in rural areas, while 14.4 percent in single-industry towns.
The maximum output of the enterprises to be commissioned in 2023 will reach 59 billion Kazakh tenge ($129.52 million). The ministry estimates that production worth 11.6 billion Kazakh tenge ($25.46 million) will be exported, while the goods worth around 47.4 billion Kazakh tenge ($104 million) will be used for import substitution.
Additionally, the ministry revealed that in total 98 investment projects are planned with an overall worth of 6 trillion Kazakh tenge ($13.17 billion). Successful implementation of the projects will create around 13,900 job openings.
The chemical industry is one of the leading manufacturing industries in Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan increased the output of the chemical industry by 10 percent in 2022. The production of carbon dioxide, chlorine, hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, and liquid ammonia increased in the prior year. Additionally, the Kazakh chemical industry significantly increased the volume of exports, particularly in the first half of 2022. From January through July 2022 chemical enterprises exported goods worth around $900 million.
