BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 28. The volume of agricultural products produced in the Turkestan region of Kazakhstan has increased 2 times over the past 5 years, Trend reports.
This was stated by the head of the Turkestan region Darkhan Satybaldy at a press conference in the Central Communications Service of Kazakhstan.
According to him, only last year the region produced agricultural products worth over 1 trillion Kazakh tenge ($2.21 billion).
He noted that a total of 336 billion Kazakh tenge ($744.5 million) of investments were attracted to the agro-industrial complex of the region.
"The volume of intensive gardening this year will be brought to 5,405 hectares. As a result, the yield increases by 5 times, up to 300-350 quintals are harvested per hectare," Satybaldy said.
At the same time, he noted that water-saving technologies have been implemented on 28,763 hectares, and the "2-3 harvests per year from one area" project - on 9,303 hectares, while adding that this approach saves tap water by 2 times and increases productivity up to 3 times.
One of the main directions of agriculture in the Turkestan region is grain production. Due to the fertile soils and favorable climatic conditions, the region has a high potential for growing various grain crops, including wheat, barley, oats and corn.
