ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 26. A total of 83,235 new cars were sold from January through June 2023 in Kazakhstan, which is 60.2 percent more compared to the same period of the previous year, Trend reports.
According to the Association of Kazakhstan Auto Business (AKAB), new car sales surpassed 15,000 vehicles in June 2023. Local dealers successfully sold 15,892 passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, along with 943 trucks and buses, marking a remarkable 41.2 percent increase compared to June 2022.
As noted, June emerged as the most successful month of the first half of the year, with almost all market participants showcasing positive sales figures. The results for the first six months of 2023 are inching closer to the record-breaking sales seen in the comparable period of 2013–2014. According to AKAB's forecast, the current year is anticipated to witness the sale of at least 150,000 units of various types of vehicles.
Leading in June was Hyundai, with 4,229 cars sold (a 67.2 percent increase compared to June of the previous year). Chevrolet secured the second spot with 4,042 vehicles sold (a 1.5 percent decrease), followed by Kia with 2,502 cars sold (a 90.1 percent surge). Chery dealers sold 890 cars (a 185.3 percent growth), while Jac concluded the top five with 808 vehicles sold (a 164.1 percent increase).
In the list of the most popular models in June, a newcomer, the Chevrolet Onix, secured the second position with 1,396 sedans sold in its first full month on the market. The Chevrolet Cobalt retained its first-place position with 1,947 cars sold, and the Hyundai Tucson occupied the third spot with 1,263 units sold.
